Almond Maple Wafer Cookies

Ingredients

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, mix the almond meal, maple syrup, spices and vanilla. Add the water a little at a time to moisten the dough, using less or more as needed.
3. Grease a cookie sheet with coconut oil or ghee.
4. Roll the batter into teaspoon-sized balls and arrange them on the cookie sheet.
5. Bake for 20-30 minutes (keep your eye on them). Pull them out of the oven when the edges are lightly browned.
6. Let them cool for a few minutes, then remove carefully with a spatula and place on a plate. Allow them to completely cool before serving.

Notes

Almond flour is rich in healthy fats and protein, which help to ground and stabilize Vata.

Almond flour’s cooling properties help balance Pitta.

Almond flour is quite dense and heavy, which could increase Kapha if consumed in large quantities, potentially leading to lethargy, weight gain, or congestion. However, when used in moderation and with spices like cardamom, cinnamon, or ginger, it can be a grounding and satisfying addition without aggravating Kapha.

Almonds are considered rasayana (rejuvenating) in Ayurveda, which means they promote the creation of Ojas—the subtle essence of vitality, strength, and immunity.

Almond flour can help nourish the tissues (dhatus), especially blood and muscles, promoting overall strength and stamina.

Dosha Type

V-PnK+ (in excess)

These sweet and tastey small bites are grounding and nourishing for vata dosha.

Pitta can omit nutmeg and increase cardamom to make them less warming and receive the grounding and nourishing benefits.

Kapha can increase cinnamon and nutmeg and even add a pinch of dried ginger to make them more warming and stimulating. Reducing the maple syrup will also decrease their density.
