Prior to working with Path Wellbeing, this client was suffering from fatigue, chronic constipation, distention and systemic dryness throughout their body. They were taking no less than 20 vitamins and mineral supplements daily to help address nutrient deficiencies shown through testing. They had been taking these supplements for approximately 2 years with no, or very little, results. 

The client was also a very busy professional and a parent to 2 teenagers. They enjoyed a regular meditation and yoga practice and followed a mostly raw whole-food diet. Life could be unpredictable for this client leading to high levels of anxiety and a fairly inconsistent daily routine. 

The Plan We Created

After doing a full intake and assessment and understanding their unique needs, one of our practitioners offered this client nutritional and lifestyle support designed for their specific constitution and imbalances.

Most importantly, we addressed their supplement intake, which did not seem to be helping and was costing them hundreds of dollars per month. After consulting with the recommending practitioner, this client stopped taking most of their supplements immediately. We then addressed nutrient absorption from the perspective of whole food nutrient delivery combined with proper food preparation (warm, cooked, and constitutionally-tailored meals) and mindful eating practices. 

We also addressed their chronic constipation pattern and systemic dryness with demulcent and fiber-rich foods and herbs, as well as emollient lifestyle practices such as self-oil massage and the use of a humidifier. We employed an Ayurvedic cleanse, which helped to reset their entire digestive and elimination systems and root out deep-seated toxins. 

 

Daily Lifestyle Practices​

Finally, we engaged in extensive lifestyle coaching to help the client establish sustainable daily routines that grounded their energy, created more spaciousness for stress-management and allowed them to flow with the fluctuations of daily life more fluidly. The client also learned that not all yoga and meditation practices are made of the same energy and transitioned their current practice to one that was more supportive.

Results & Timeline

Within a Few weeks…

Within a few weeks, this client’s digestive complaints subsided and their bowel pattern normalized – for the first time in decades. After a few months, we were able to discontinue herbal elimination support and only use diet and lifestyle practices to maintain regularity. Because the client leads a busy lifestyle and their constitution – vata dosha – will always tend toward more dryness, they still go out of balance from time to time, leading to minor constipation.  But, they now know that this pattern is an early warning sign to reorient their intention around nutrition and lifestyle practices that balance them most.

Because dryness throughout the body often stems from deeper internal dryness, once their bowel pattern normalized, their skin and hair became less dry and brittle as well.

Importantly, this client enjoys much higher energy levels and is taking only 2 or 3 supplements at any given time and for very specific purposes that cannot be met through food alone. Otherwise, all of their nutrient delivery comes from their food, which is well-prepared and eaten mindfully.
