Prior to working with Path Wellbeing, this client was suffering from hot flashes, skin issues, digestive abnormalities, uncomfortable periods, severe PMS, irregular sleep patterns and fatigue. The client was using prescription hormonal therapy to help control her perimenopausal symptoms, which subsequently seemed to be getting worse. She feared stopping her prescriptions and was told that discontinuing hormonal therapy would worsen her symptoms.

The client was married with 2 children in high school and a demanding job. 

The Plan We Created

After doing a full intake and assessment and understanding her unique needs, one of our practitioners offered this client nutritional and lifestyle support designed for their specific constitution and imbalances.

We started the client with simple diet and lifestyle changes appropriate for her constitution, imbalances and time of life. Perimenopause marks the beginning of the vata stage of life when – regardless of constitution – a woman’s elemental biology takes on more air and ether elements, leading to a depletion of tissues, hormones and metabolic energy. During this time, the quality of nutrition and lifestyle practices that may have suited a woman during most of her adult years shifts towards more nurturing earth and water elements that help to counteract the depleting air and ether elements. We delicately managed the fire element along with her body temperature fluctuations.

Importantly, we implemented a liver support protocol and a customized Ayurvedic cleanse to root out deep-seated toxins and reverse metabolic stagnation that can drive hormonal imbalance. We then designed an endocrine tonic to support the natural processing of hormones for her time of life. During this time, we learned the specific energetics that balanced her unique constitution and maintenance protocols for long-term healing. 

We engaged in lifestyle coaching to help the client establish sustainable daily routines that grounded their energy, supported natural hormonal balance, created healthy boundaries, and enhanced sleep. We also reviewed all of her self-care products for endocrine-disrupting chemicals and substances that could be affecting her.

Results & Timeline

Within the first 2 weeks…

The client’s digestive system normalized and she decided to stop taking her hormone therapy. 

After 30 days…

By transforming her nutritional intake and supporting the processing of hormones through the liver, her hot flashes subsided and her sleep improved.

Within 4 months…

The client’s cycle resumed (her first non-synthetic hormone-induced cycle in years) with minor PMS symptoms and no pain. Her skin also got better and her hair felt softer and stronger.

Within 6 months…

We were able to stop all of the client’s herbal remedies and offer her ongoing nutrition and lifestyle support to carry her through menopause and beyond in a balanced and nurtured way. She continues to engage in seasonal cleansing to support her liver, gut and metabolic health, which are essential to hormonal balance and to overall wellbeing.
