Before Working With Us

Prior to working with Path Wellbeing, this client was experiencing gastrointestinal imbalances, constipation, anxiety and had recently received a formal diagnosis of ADHD for which they had been prescribed medication. 

Their nutrition habits included periods of extreme fasting and binging junk food. They were active, creative and successful in their professional life but struggled with self-esteem. The client also wanted to start modeling the way for their children, who had similar ADHD symptoms and imbalanced relationships with food. 

The Plan We Created

After doing a full intake and assessment and understanding their unique needs, one of our practitioners offered this client nutrition, lifestyle and herbal remedies designed for their specific constitution to help support their imbalances.

The client had been approaching their ADHD diagnosis from a place of shame and disappointment, especially once they learned their children suffered from similar symptoms. 

Nutrition

This client’s primary focus was to learn more balanced nutrition and lifestyle habits that they could share with their children. As a primary vata-type imbalance, we knew we had to focus first on creating structure and routine to ground the erratic nature of vata.

We created rituals around mealtime that honored the family’s relationship with food, including introducing a family blessing that was meaningful to them and helped set the stage for mindful eating. They also introduced regular mealtimes and started family-planning for meals, choosing specific cuisines for specific nights – something they began to honor as a ritual. 

Once their routine started to feel more natural, we then focused on introducing more nutrient-dense, grounding foods and crowding out the foods that exacerbated the client’s condition (eg. processed foods, sugars and sodas). 

We also spent a considerable amount of time working on building self-esteem through self-love and self-care practices, and creating space for intentional joy, play and honoring individuality. 

To assist the client with their imbalances, we also prescribed a custom-designed bowel tonic medicated ghee to regulate elimination patterns and a nervous system formula to help calm their anxiety. 

Results & Timeline

Within 2 Weeks..

Within the first 2 weeks, this client was already eliminating more regularly and experiencing less digestive upset.

As they processed their feelings of shame and guilt they started to see patterns in their lives that created emotional stagnation or blockages to change and self-acceptance. 

After One Month…

After a month, the client was feeling more grounded and energized, especially once we introduced more nutrient-dense food and eliminated highly processed sugars. 

Their anxiety greatly decreased with self-care practices that emphasized honoring their unique individual nature.

Within 6 Months...

After 3 months, the client fell into a routine with their family in which they were honoring their mealtimes and spending more time with each other. Everyone got to claim a “meal night”, meaning they got to pick what the family would eat so long as the food was fresh and included at least one vegetable and one protein or whole grain. They worked together to come up with fun recipes that everyone could enjoy and, since Ayurveda emphasizes the use of all six tastes – sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent – they never felt constrained in their food choices. 

After about 6 months of feeling more balanced, grounded, and in alignment with themselves, the client consulted with their doctor and stopped taking their ADHD medication. To this day, this client still talks about how Ayurveda changed not only his life but that of his family as well.
