Prior to working with us this 35 year old female was 6 months postpartum and experiencing alternating constipation and diarrhea, nausea, anxiety, anger, brain fog, poor circulation and hypoglycemia.
After a full intake and assessment with one of our practitioners, we created a treatment plan to address symptoms at their root cause.
We concluded that this client had a predominantly pitta/fire constitution with a long term vata/ air imbalance.
Vata, as the energy of motion, can push other doshas out of balance as well. In her case, we found accompanying pitta imbalances A treatment plan that pacifies both pitta and vata in the body, mind and Self was taken in order to:
– balance digestive fire and increase absorption and assimilation of nutrients
– balancing vata dosha and all the vayus (subtle energetic winds of of the body) to enable the
cells to receive glucose
– regulate the nervous system
– increase Ojas: strength, vitality and immunity
Morning exercise to improve circulation and balance vayus of the body, mindful eating, enjoying largest meal during pitta time of day, abhyanga-self oil massage, yoga nidra and alternate nostril breathing.
Food had been a long term source of stress and overwhelm for the client as she always had to make sure she had something with her to avoid feeling sick. We worked with adapting recipes to foster enjoyment and nourishment and balanced her meals with equal parts fat, fibre and protein with moist, warm and grounding foods. Appropriate snacks were available as needed.
We incorporated cinnamon in varying breakfast recipes and in an evening drink to help balance her blood sugar. We also incorporated a digestive spice mix to support her liver and increase absorption and assimilation of nutrients. A herbal nasya oil was implemented to calm, sooth and nourish vata and pitta doshas.
-More stable energy levels were experienced throughout the day
-Regular daily bowel movements
-Nausea dissipated
-Less reactionary to things that used to bother her
-A calmer approach to problems was taken
-Anxiety significantly decreased
-Pain was mitigated
-Mental clarity increased
-Body temperature regulated (improved circulation)
-She had more energy to do the things she enjoyed; creative projects we picked up or started
-She enjoyed deeper connections with daughter and husband
-She became pregnant with her second child
