Natural Electrolyte Lemonade

  1. Combine all ingredients into a glass and stir well. Adjust honey/maple syrup to taste. 
  2. Sip throughout the day to maintain optimal electrolyte balance.
  3. In Fall and Winter, warm the water first. 

Notes

Your body maintains a delicate balance of electrolytes – primarily sodium, potassium, and chloride – that are essential for nerve conduction, muscle function, and fluid balance. Sodium, the main component of table salt, plays a particularly crucial role in this system. 

Sugar intake also significantly impacts electrolyte balance in the body, particularly through its effects on sodium and potassium regulation.

This natural electrolyte drink – with a healthy combination of high quality salts and natural sugars – helps your body to maintain optimal balance throughout the day. 

Dosha Type

This recipe is ideal for Vata Dosha and during Vata season, when the body has a tendency to dry out and experience greater fluctuations. Pittas may wish to substitute limes for lemons as they are less acidic and more cooling. Kaphas should use only honey and consume sporadically/when needed.
