Summer Soothing Pitta Tea

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Bring water to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low
  2. Add licorice root first and simmer for 3-4 minutes
  3. Remove from heat and add mint, hibiscus, and rose petals
  4. Steep covered for 5-7 minutes
  5. Strain and serve warm, or let cool completely and serve at room temperature
  6. Sweeten with coconut sugar or raw honey if desired (add honey only after cooling to preserve its properties)

Notes

You can double or quadruple this recipe and brew in a large infusion jar or pot then store in the fridge for up to a few days. Before consuming, let warm to room temperature so your body can absorb more of the herbal properties and qualities.

This blend combines the cooling power of mint and hibiscus with the soothing sweetness of licorice and the heart-opening qualities of rose. Perfect for sipping throughout the day to stay cool and centered.

Dosha Type

Overall Blend Energetics:

  • Primary Action: P- (Pitta reducing)
  • Secondary Effects: V+ K+ (may slightly increase Vata and Kapha)
  • Dominant Virya: Cooling
  • Best for: Pitta constitution, hot weather, inflammatory conditions, summer season

Note: The licorice root helps moderate the Vata-increasing effects of the other herbs, making this blend particularly well-balanced for Pitta season while remaining gentle for most constitutions when consumed in moderation.
