Ayurvedic Spring Flower Tea

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Bring 2 cups of filtered water to just below boiling
  2. Place all dried flowers in a teapot or heat-resistant glass container
  3. Pour hot water over the flowers and cover
  4. Steep for at least 10 minutes
  5. Strain and add honey if desired
  6. Sip mindfully to experience the balancing properties of these blooms

Notes

Rose petals contain antioxidants that support heart health and reduce inflammation. They help balance emotions, relieve mild anxiety, and are particularly cooling for excess Pitta conditions like irritability and skin rashes.

Jasmine flowers act as a natural antidepressant and anxiolytic. They help regulate hormones, support reproductive health, and improve sleep quality by calming the nervous system.

Calendula provides immune system support through its antimicrobial properties. It helps heal mucous membranes throughout the digestive system and can reduce menstrual discomfort.

Lavender works as a gentle nervine, supporting the body during stress and promoting deeper sleep. It aids liver function and spring detoxification while balancing all three doshas.

Together, these flowers create a synergistic effect that helps ground racing thoughts, reduce inflammation, support gentle detoxification, and harmonize mind-body energy during seasonal transitions.

The optional ginger adds circulatory support and enhances the bioavailability of the flower constituents. Honey adds moisture and sweetness to balance out the astrigency of the herbs.

In combination, this tea is tridoshic, with each part supporting a particular doshic energetic. In Spring, this blend helps gently reduce accumulated Kapha while preparing the body for increasing Pitta. Pitta dosha should skip the ginger and drink it at room temperature.
