Notes

This recipe combines several stress-reducing and rest-promoting ingredients and qualities:

  1. Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb that helps regulate cortisol (stress hormone) levels and promotes relaxation
  2. Turmeric contains curcumin which has anti-inflammatory properties and may help reduce anxiety
  3. Warm milk contains tryptophan, which helps produce serotonin and melatonin
  4. Cardamom and cinnamon have calming properties and help regulate blood sugar levels, which can impact stress
  5. Black pepper increases the bioavailability of turmeric’s beneficial compounds
  6. The warm temperature and ritual of preparing the drink also promotes mindfulness and relaxation.

Dosha Type

This tea is ideal for Vata Dosha and for all doshas with Vata imbalances. Pitta may choose to skip the black pepper and dry ginger, particularly in summer.
