Prior to coming to work with us, this client was experiencing loose stools, anger, anxiety, insomnia, hormonal imbalances, menstrual irregularities, and burning nerve pain.
This client was working in a stressful environment and had a lot of responsibilities at home that distracted her from taking care of herself. She had been on birth control for more than 20 years and had poor posture and an inflammation-provoking exercise routine.
She had a pretty good handle on her own wellness (made mostly good food choices focused on protein and vegetables) but needed more support in understanding how the energetics of the food she was eating made her imbalances worse and how her lifestyle was contributing to her imbalances.
After conducting her constitutional and imbalance assessment, we learned that her constitutional make-up was prone to all of the imbalances she was experiencing – not uncommon as we tend to go out of balance in the areas that are most innate to us. We were able to correct her imbalances with nutritional, lifestyle, and herbal remedies.
She started a short course of cool digestive aids to target the loose stools and liver cleansing to help her process her hormones more effectively; she also decided to undergo a deep-tissue detox during which she rooted out the major toxins in her body that were contributing to her imbalances.
For her nerve pain, we addressed her symptoms with cool nervine sedatives (to help calm the nerves and reduce the pain) and tonics (to help strengthen the nerve tissue). We also worked to root out the cause of her nerve pain with lifestyle and nutrition adjustments that were specific to her needs.
We treated the subtle body symptoms – anger and anxiety – that this client was experiencing the same way we treated her other symptoms: through nutritional, herbal, and lifestyle support. Food and herbs will help reduce the underlying causes of subtle body imbalances while also helping to strengthen the nervous system.
Lifestyle support, however, is paramount when understanding and trying to correct subtle body imbalances – the environment you surround yourself with determines the environment inside of you. If you can’t extricate yourself from a difficult environment – as this client couldn’t – learning to change your relationship with the environment around you is both exceptionally powerful and very attainable.
Once she started implementing the recommendations (even small changes can make a BIG difference) she immediately started to feel better. We created nutritional and herbal plans specific to her constitution and imbalances and worked closely with her on lifestyle recommendations that were attainable given her situation at work and home.
This client also learned the power of self-massage (abhyanga) and meditation on her healing journey. Not only did her nerve pain not return but she is also able to do things (twisting, bending, lifting) that her Western doctors told her she would never do again.
Actual healing (as opposed to just symptomatic relief) during which we started to see her hormones, menstrual cycle, sleep, and nervous system issues normalize took 2-3 months. Deeper-level healing and implementing lasting nutritional and lifestyle changes is an ongoing process of accountability, support, and understanding of what works best for her and her constitution.
