Notes

Licorice has a sweet taste that tonifies, strengthens and nourishes the nervous system. It is a robust adrenal tonic and can support enduring energy.

For this recipe licorice root is preferred, but you can substitute powdered licorice in equal parts. Licorice Root is an amazing energy booster, making this tea a good alternative to morning caffeine.

Dosha Type

Licorice is balancing for all three doshas. It is known to rejuvenate and nourish exhausted vata while calming and cooling pitta when stressed and fatigued.

Avoid in cases of hypertension (high blood pressure), swelling or edema, and calcium or potassium depletion. Licorice is best consumed in the morning as it can raise cortisol levels.
