INDIVIDUALIZED HEALING THROUGH HOLISTIC WELLBEING.
Enjoy this chai during the colder transitional months of vata-kapha season, especially when the heaviness and dampness of the season start to set in.
Black tea delivers excellent antioxidant qualities that help to stimulate stagnant kapha (earth and water), while warming spices boost circulation, invigorate the tissues and offer mental stimulation.
Rose delivers an astringent quality that helps to decrease excess mucous accumulation. It is cooling so combining with warming spices in vata and kapha season is essential.
Fresh whipped cream – make it yourself, you won’t be disappointed and it is sooo easy! – delivers a simple satisfying treat that calms vata and pitta while offering a calcium boost that nourishes bone tissue (asthi dhatu).
V=P=K-
Vata: Neutral – sweet, grounding and nourishing – if you are over-stimulated by caffeine, swap the black tea for a decaffeinated version or use a roasted dandelion root or tulsi tea instead.
Pitta: Neutral – the balance of the warming spices and the cooling qualities of the rose and fresh whipped cream make this okay for pitta to enjoy in vata and kapha season but reduce ginger and omit clove if pitta is aggravated.
Kapha: Decreasing– the astringency in the black tea and rose, along with the warming and heating spices make this idea for kapha any time of year. When kapha is aggravated – or there is excess mucous accumulation – omit the fresh whipped cream and minimize the maple syrup.
